Jackals Suffer 5-3 Setback
|
The Hamilton Steelers defeated the Maracaibo Jackals, 5-3, in Latitude Division action at Jackals Ballpark. Hamilton pitcher Nelson Tellecha had a standout performance. Hamilton reliever Jason Leeper was the winner. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was John Woodham. The Steelers now have a record of 32-39 with the win over Maracaibo.
Hamilton used the clutch hitting of Tsuneari Kasuse to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Steelers ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Tellecha said his team "played with focus."
