| Breaking News | | Saturday, June 10th, 2017: Fa Hurt, Out for Year Hamilton reliever Huai-yi Fa could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn labrum. He exited yesterday's Hukuoka game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Fa would be out 13 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer.
"He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
Here are his stats for this season: Fa has chalked up no saves and fashioned a record of 2 wins and 0 losses with a 1.53 ERA. He has made 18 relief appearances, thrown 29.1 innings and struck out 23. | | Thursday, June 1st, 2017: LAD #1 Pitcher in May is Hamilton's Bélanger The Hamilton Steelers owe Dominique Bélanger a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in May, Bélanger tore up the opposition with a fine 5-1 mark on his way to the Latitude Division Pitcher of the Month award.
"When you're pitching this well," analyzed Bélanger, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is."
It was Bélanger who did the banging in May as he tossed up 52 strikeouts in 47 innings, holding opponents to a .167 average and posting a 1.91 ERA.
