The Puerto Plata Pumas did just enough to secure a victory over the Lagunillas Loros, 7-6, at Loros Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Russell Shields. The win elevated the Pumas to 40-32.

Puerto Plata used the clutch hitting of Curt Frizzell to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Pumas the lead, 3-2. For the game, Frizzell had 1 single and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Puerto Plata manager Gordon Caretaker Maclean.
