Tight Tilt Goes to Steelers, 4-3
|
The Hamilton Steelers scored a tight 4-3 win versus the Valencia Cerveceros at Cerveceros Stadium. Hamilton pitcher Kenichi Kakutama held his own in the contest. Kakutama, the winner, moves to 7-8. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Yong-hun Yi, credited with the save, is now 9 for 11 in save opportunities.
Hamilton used the bat of Tonio Martínez to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Steelers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Kakutama. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
Hamilton is 54-61 and Valencia, with the loss, 66-49.
