Alacranes Defeat Gila Monsters, 5-4
The Mexico City Gila Monsters got a sterling performance from pitcher Júlio Romero, but the Monterrey Alacranes still prevailed, 5-4. Romero threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Monterrey reliever Wally Stanley picked up the win to move to 1-1. Elbanco Leos suffered the loss. The Gila Monsters drop to 11-13 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2069 season.

Monterrey used the timely hitting of Girard Fuser to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Alacranes on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Monterrey manager .
