Chihuahua Gets 7-1 Win
|
The Chihuahua Chihuahuas topped the Thunder Bay Avengers, 7-1, in Latitude Division action at Thunder Bay Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Chihuahua pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Orlan Carreto. Chihuahua raised its record to 33-32 with the win.
Chihuahua used a well-timed hit by Raúl Quintanilla to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Chihuahuas ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Carreto told a Chihuahua Daily reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
