I playing through a few seasons of 16 on my own, I’ve noticed that making the owner happy matters a good deal when it comes to future budgets. Some of the owner’s requests are a bit outlandish, but when he’s happy, I’ve never had a declining budget.

Owner goals are turned off in both of my other leagues 🙁

  • From the other OOTP 16 leagues I’m in, the financial system seems to crush budgets. In one league, the game moved me from 180 mil to 166 mil and it’s going to 144 mil next year. I made money the first year, though I am projected to lose a couple mil this year. It’s really hard to plan a team when the game drops your budget almost 40 mil in 2…[Read more]

Wow…I totally hadn’t realized Akashi’s current run was 10 seasons already. I can remember their drop to Cuba, and it seems like less time than that.

He decided to play basketball. Look under “news involving player”. Surprised if it wasn’t in your news feed. He said his career was stalled in the minors and wanted a career change. A 6-foot 200 pound point-guard? Good luck with that.

Maybe he wanted to play in the CBL. He’d dominate in the Chinese league…

That’s true. Congrats for staying up so long. Vancouver had been there almost as long, too, but with them falling down, you’re by far the longest tenured, currently.

  • When the draft pool is revealed in-game, you’ll need to make a list of guys you’d like. We hold the draft in 3 parts: a Round 1 sim, a Rounds 2-3 sim, and a Rounds 4-10 sim.

Let’s say you have the 5th pick in the draft. For the first sim, you’d need a list of 5 guys. For the second sim, you’d need a list of 13 guys. And if there are any guys…[Read more]

Haha, it’ll probably be a 7-deep pool. Or if it’s 8 deep, the 8th guy will be a “starter” with only 2 pitches. I got a potentially elite closer (10-7-8) a few years ago in a 5-deep pool, but I’d so much rather be able to draft an outfielder who’s good. I haven’t drafted one of those in AGES.

<– Best team to not make the playoffs! 73 wins without making the playoffs is the worst: not only do you not move up, but you're also guaranteed the 8th pick in the draft.

At least I was right about “there’s no way I’ll be below .500 this season”.

Yeah, that was a great time for a 6-0 sim! I think my only chance is sweeping you and then hoping I do better in the last series than you do. Obviously a pipe dream at this point! Cap_PDT_01_11

I’m scared to post anything and risk jinxing myself. I wish my 1B, Sixto Marcilla, would start hitting. He’s hitting this year as if he’s facing USA competition and not tier 3 competition. I’m very pleased with the rest of my team’s performance thus far (we’re definitely exceeding our pythagorean record).

  • When I extract the file downloaded from the site, it creates a “wbh.lg” folder inside the expected location of the wbh.lg folder. You might try looking for that sub-folder and copying all of its contents into the correct location.

  • I’m just looking at it from the standpoint of someone who basically doesn’t know anything about coding. I have no idea how to write my own, or how long it takes to make. I was just wondering based on how quickly David whipped up the other violations page.

So far, this sounds like more work, but I don’t have a gauge for how much more work it would…[Read more]

But from a rule checking perspective, we need to set rules that can be eyeballed, without a calculator. 10% sounds as easy as it gets to assess quickly, but even that can be a bit time consuming. Consider a contract like this:

    $1,785,000
    $1,963,000
    $2,178,000
    $2,395,000

That contract probably looks fine at first glance,…

  • David (Chihuahua) created this site League Checks to monitor these rules automatically. He is a magician, as far as I’m concerned.

As for why these things should be monitored:

DL rule: You can look at keeping a healthy player on your DL as only “hurting” your own team, but conversely, maybe the guy is out of options, isn’t good enough to keep…[Read more]

The tier graphic on the website isn’t accurate anymore. A few seasons back it was changed to this:

    Tier 1: USA
    Tier 2: Cuba and Japan
    Tier 3: Venezuela and Korea
Tier 4: Dominican Republic and Canada

Dom feeds to Ven feeds to Jap feeds to USA.
Can feeds to Kor feeds to Cub feeds to USA.

Yes, and also make sure that if you’re going to keep any non-roster invitees (minor league players without * next to their name), you need to manually add them to the 40-man roster or else you will be fined for keeping them up in the majors.

  • Erie VEN replied to the topic 2040 Venezuela in the forum Hierarchy News 4 years, 6 months ago

Those are the most ridiculous predictions. There’s no way I’m going to be under .500 this year.

  • +4

  • It’s fine. Anytime you’re short on playoff-eligible players, just right click on them, go to transaction, and select “add to playoff roster”.
