Steelers Edge Valencia in Pitching Duel
|
The Hamilton Steelers topped the Valencia Cerveceros, 1-0, in Latitude Division action at Steelers Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Hamilton pitcher and Barcelona, Venezuela, native Amilcar Arruda. Jason Leeper, credited with the save, is now 5 for 6 in save opportunities. Hamilton is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Hamilton catcher Dae-sung Yi contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a circle change into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 27th hit of the season and put the Steelers ahead, 1-0.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Yi told the Hamilton Daily.
