Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Stars
|
Philadelphia Stars starter Terry Pollock was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Toronto Sting, 3-1. In 7.1 innings, Pollock surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Birru Wairimu earned the save for Philadelphia, his 22nd of the year.
Philadelphia used the clutch hitting of Roy Yates to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stars ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Pollock.
Philadelphia, at 68-40, is 13 games up in the Longitude Division.
