Mao Wastes Great Game by Delaney
|
Mao second baseman Bob Delaney had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Delaney hit 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times, even as Monterrey beat the Dadaistas, 11-9. Gookie Villagrán got the win, improving to 4-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. With the win, Monterrey raised its record to 36-19.
Monterrey used the timely hitting of Tae-kwon Kim to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Alacranes ahead, 8-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Monterrey manager .
