Dominant Performance by Vargas in Pacora Win
|
Pacora and Quebec duked it out and the Jaguars came out victorious.
Pacora starter Oliver Vargas put a stranglehold on the Quebec offense. The left-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Jaguars to a 3-0 win. Jong-hoo Kang, credited with the save, is now 1 for 3 in save opportunities.
Vargas, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 8 in 7.2 innings and gave up no runs.
Vargas, who is tied for 2nd in the LOD with a 148.1 innings pitched, moves to 12-6 on the year with 190 strikeouts.
Afterward, Jaguars manager was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Dragons, at 45-60, have lost 4 in a row.
