Dragons Prevail, 4-3, Over Puerto Plata
|
Quebec right fielder Gang Nie made his presence felt in the 4-3 Dragons triumph over the Puerto Plata Pumas. Nie was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Mário Hernández, the winner, improved to 7-4. He held Puerto Plata to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 11 strikeouts. The third-place Pumas have lost 5 consecutive games.
Nie contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Quebec in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Nie took a cutter from Russell Shields and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Dragons to leap in front, 3-1.
Nie called the win "a collective effort."
