Ventures Best Saltamontes in Pitching Duel
|
The Vancouver Ventures got a magnificent effort from pitcher Paul Taaij, who kept Tijuana hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Ventures win at Ballpark of Vancouver. Taaij, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Vancouver, now 5-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
The Ventures got a big at-bat from shortstop Terry Zhou. For the game, Zhou went 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead.
"If we keep winning the close games," Taaij said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
