Saltamontes Take Down Avengers, 3-2
|
Thunder Bay got a terrific performance from pitcher Albert Sousa, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tijuana Saltamontes. Tijuana won the Thunder Bay Grounds contest, 3-2. Sousa threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Tijuana pitcher Gustavo Montero got the win, upping his record to 2-3. Suk-min Tae got the loss. Ricciardo Spano recorded the save for Tijuana, his 1st of the season.
Tijuana used the clutch hitting of Jaivin Ruberio to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Saltamontes ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Saltamontes," said Ruberio.
The Saltamontes raised their record to 23-30.
