The Tijuana Saltamontes got a superb performance from pitcher Ignacio López, but the Vancouver Ventures still won the game, 5-2. López threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner in relief was Buinton Tofolla. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 6-2. Vancouver, at 31-20, is 2½ games up in the Longitude Division.

Vancouver needed the clutch hitting of Lupe Gailey to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ventures on top, 4-2. For the game, Gailey had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Vancouver manager . "Our pregame was pretty good."
