The Vancouver Ventures topped the Thunder Bay Avengers, 2-1, in Longitude Division action at Thunder Bay Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Vancouver pitcher Paul Taaij. Hokichi Samurakami picked up the save, his 8th. The Ventures, at 21-15, lead by one game in their division.

Vancouver used the timely hitting of Bernie Trowsdale to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ventures on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Trowsdale attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
